Radha was married

Oh! What a discovery I made... Just generally thinking about how mean Krishna was, who loved Radha so dearly but still did not have the courage to make her his life partner, I started thinking if Radha ever married at all. After a few googling results I stumbled onto this spectacular discovery that Radha was a married woman, it was an extra-marital affair that she had with Krishna. I am amazed with this discovery, hard to digest, but makes logical sense so can be accepted. I knew that some of the gopis who would romance with Krishna were married, but to find out that Radha was married too and we still celebrate their romance with so much of élan was a great discovery for me.

I will not be writing for a few weeks, have exams coming up and look at the thoughts I get during exam times. Conjectures, epics I feel like doing these things more than plainly sitting down to study course stuff probably. May God save me!

Yes. Radha was a married woman and so were all the gopis Krishna used to dance around with. But good observation i must say. Not everyone knows about this.
But there is more to it. Be it Radha.. be it any other Gopi, Krishna was their belief that love was eternal. That it is more about unconditional faith and trust.. and not lust.
It is said that Krishna has 16,000 wives. To put the same in another way, Krishna was the 'Bharta' of 16,000 women. 'Bharta'- the one who reigns, the one who takes care. You know how? After Mahabharata, He vowed to take care of about 16,000 women who had lost their husbands/fathers/brothers to the humungous battle...
Baap re.. too much ki kasam! kya arbit gyaan diya na?... :)
All the best for your exams dear!

Radha was married , ibn7 also telecasted a show on it. In spirituality there are different types of yoga, like raj yoga, kriya yoga, prem yoga. Stupid people does not understand what do u mean by divine love. Krishna was having 16000 wives :) everything here is Krishna. Every single thing, living beings get dissolved into HIM.

Love between Radha and Krishna is unique. We can hardly reach or see or feel the purity of love between the two souls, that these two had...

You can read more to know about the spiritual and devotional aspects of this love. I read that Radha knew that she won''t be able to marry Krishna, and yet she waited for Krishna''s one look in gokul... Their love was beyond selfishness or any of what we feel for other people and hence it is called divine.

Krishna is also a God whom we can love in many forms. As son, as lover, as friend, anyway... He came to spread the message of love and peace in this world and will keep on inspiring generations for the same... I too love him... Its often something that we can''t explain to someone else.. There is no point in trying to make others feel the same.

Your comment about extra-mar.. affair was so naive :) We can laugh over that.

Think about the great saints who have spent their lives worshiping and loving Krishna. Meera was one. Krishna will continue to give support and save all of us if we love him from pure heart...

Have nice time!

@Vinod: I find it very hard to understand the spirituality behind Krishna.

@Rahul: Yes, I will not shy away from accepting that I am naive when it comes to understanding God/religion. I have huge amount of faith on God, but don't really understand who He is. All I understand is that He talks to me, listens to me, guides me, and helps me stay calm in difficult situations. He is an invisible human for me, and so I got a very generic and humane term like extra-marital affair to associate with Krishna-Radha relationship.

Stumbled on your blog googling for the same question , "Was Radha married?".

Kamala Das writes:

At sunset, on the river ban, Krishna
Loved her for the last time and left...
That night in her husband’s arms, Radha felt
So dead that he asked, What is wrong,
Do you mind my kisses, love? And she said,
No, not at all, but thought, What is
It to the corpse if the maggots nip?

It's an amazing discovery.. I too googled a lot to find what happened with Radha. And it is such a bliss to understand/ know it all. We human beings have never been able to understand 'LOve' and we mostly try to search it in married relationship. I think, the God himself have tried explaning us what a divine & selfless love is like. I Love you Lord Krishna.

I read somewhere... the 16000 wives and all the Gopis that Lord Krishna romanced with were actually saints and holy people who pleased Lord Vishnu by their Karma & Meditation and asked companionship with 'The God almighty'.
They all deserved to have borned with Lord almighty and experiencing the blessings.
